We are all accustomed to hearing stereotypes about vultures. They are bald, ugly, filthy scavengers. We don't need them.
Vultures are beautiful creatures. As humans, we have unintentionally trained our minds to criticize all kinds of different. Vultures have unique features which make them vital to the ecosystem and therefore incredibly important for the health and well being of various other species, including our own.
Vultures play a large role as biological waste controllers in the areas they live in. They have extremely corrosive stomach acid which allows them to consume animal corspes which would otherwise be left to rot on Savannahs and spread disease. Vultures free the ecosystem of these contagious diseases- yet farmers still don't think twice before shooting down this magnificent bird.
In many cultures, these birds represent 'Death' and 'Gloom' which is quite ironic considering death would be commonplace without Vultures and their important characteristics.
Vultures are gorgeous birds who don't deserve the reputation that precedes them. As humans, it is our responsibility to protect these birds.
Educate people around you to ensure that our planet still has time to recover.
